This is not a traditional contractor Senior QS role. GCM operate as a commercial partner to business owners and directors, providing advisory and project support across a portfolio of live work. The team is trusted for clear advice, strong contract administration and practical commercial judgement.

The opportunity
You will join as a Senior Quantity Surveyor within a fast-moving consultancy environment, supporting a portfolio of clients across different sectors. You act as a senior commercial advisor on projects, helping clients navigate cost, contracts, risk and opportunities.
The role blends technical QS delivery with advisory exposure. You may support multiple clients across a week or be embedded on a major project, depending on demand. Variety is a constant.
This is a relationship-led environment where clarity, accuracy and commercial judgement matter.
Day-to-day expectations
You will:
- Produce commercial reporting, forecasts and financial controls for client projects
- Monitor costs, manage change and maintain robust project records
- Support procurement strategy and tender evaluation
- Administer NEC, JCT and bespoke contracts
- Review contracts, advising on obligations, risks and mitigation measures
- Assess variations, compensation events and claims
- Provide practical commercial risk advice
- Represent GCM as a trusted client contact
- Attend meetings and contribute to decision-making
- Support value engineering and governance processes
- Mentor junior team members where required
This is a visible client-facing role, and occasional travel to sites and/or client offices is expected.

We are looking for a commercially sharp Senior QS comfortable operating across multiple client environments.
You will bring:
- Strong consultancy, contractor or client-side QS experience
- Strong NEC and JCT contract understanding
- Confidence in cost control and reporting
- Analytical thinking and problem solving
- Clear communication and stakeholder confidence
- A Quantity Surveying degree or equivalent
- A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle
