HR Manager / Senior HR Advisor – Part-time, permanent

Shaftsbury, Dorset | Fully site-based | 16 hours per week | FTE circa £36,000 pro rata

Experienced HR professional looking for a flexible part-time role in the Dorset area?

We’re delighted to be partnering on a retained exclusive basis with First Milk, a British farmer-owned dairy co-operative and certified B Corp, to appoint their next part-time HR Manager / Senior HR Advisor. This is a fantastic chance to join a business that combines a family feel with a modern, progressive outlook.

This is a varied, hands-on HR generalist role where you’ll make a real impact. You’ll thrive here if you enjoy helping others grow in a site that is lively, friendly, and fast-paced.

What you’ll get involved in

  • Coaching and supporting line managers to become confident people leaders
  • Guiding ER cases including absence, disciplinary and grievance
  • Leading/coordinating recruitment activity (approx. 6–7 hires per month plus seasonal temps)
  • Acting as the approachable first point of contact for colleagues on site
  • Supporting HR cycles such as pay review, bonus and PDRs
  • Helping embed simple, effective HR practices across the site
  • Contributing to policy application and harmonisation across First Milk

Why this role

  • 16 hours per week with flexibility on how the hours are worked
  • Fully site-based role, with plenty of variety and visibility across the business
  • Great mix of coaching and hands-on HR, making a real impact with managers
  • A family-feel organisation that’s also evolving and modernising its people practices
  • Supportive, down-to-earth HR team who work hard but don’t take themselves too seriously
  • Competitive package including pension, bonus and private medical cover

What you’ll bring

  • HR experience at HR Manager level, or as a Senior HR Advisor ready to step up
  • Strong knowledge of employee relations and recruitment
  • Confidence coaching and influencing managers
  • Experience in a busy, fast-paced environment (manufacturing or FMCG helpful but not essential)
  • Solid employment law knowledge; CIPD Level 5 or equivalent experience preferred
  • Resilience, patience and comfort with being the first point of contact on site
