
HR Officer (6 Month FTC)

Syme Drummond is delighted to be supporting Capability Scotland to appoint an HR Officer on a 6-month fixed term contract.
This is a hands-on, operational role within a busy and collaborative HR team, offering the opportunity to support across the full employee lifecycle in a well-respected third sector organisation. It would suit someone who enjoys working in a structured, process-driven environment and takes pride in delivering accurate, high-quality HR administration.
We are looking for someone who can come in, pick things up quickly and provide reliable support to the team during a busy period.
The opportunity
This role will suit someone with a strong grounding in HR administration who is comfortable managing a high volume of work and enjoys the detail of getting things right.
You’ll work closely with the HR Business Partner team, supporting managers across the organisation with day-to-day operational HR activity.
The role covers the full employee lifecycle and includes:
• Recruitment coordination and pre-employment checks
• Employee lifecycle administration including new starters, changes and leavers
• Maintaining accurate HR records and supporting data validation
• HR reporting and working with systems to ensure data accuracy
• Providing first-line support to managers and colleagues
• Supporting learning and development activity
This is a role where attention to detail, organisation and consistency are key.
The person
This role would be particularly well suited to someone currently working as an HR Administrator or HR Assistant who enjoys the operational side of HR and is confident working in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience supporting HR processes such as recruitment, onboarding and employee changes
• Comfortable working with data, systems and high volumes of information
• Highly organised, with a strong focus on accuracy and detail
• Experience working in regulated environments, with strong awareness of compliance processes such as right to work, PVG/disclosure or security checks
• Able to manage multiple priorities and keep things moving
• A proactive, hands-on approach and willingness to get stuck in
• Immediately available or available at short notice
Third sector experience would be beneficial but is not essential.
