HR Consultant
Glasgow / West Coast | Hybrid & Client-Facing
Part Time / 3-4 days

Are you a commercially minded HR professional who enjoys variety, autonomy, and being close to the action?

This is an exciting opportunity to join a small, successful and growing HR consultancy, partnering with SME and mid-sized businesses across Scotland. You’ll work directly with business owners and senior leaders, delivering practical, commercially sound HR support that genuinely makes a difference.

This role is ideal for an experienced HR Generalist or HR Consultant who can hit the ground running, quickly understand different business environments, and provide advice that balances risk, compliance and commercial needs.

The Role

As an HR Consultant, you’ll take ownership of a portfolio of clients, acting as their trusted HR partner.

Your work will be varied, fast-paced, and hands-on, including:

  • Providing pragmatic, commercially focused HR advice across the full generalist remit – disciplinary, grievance, absence, performance, redundancies, restructures and ER matters
  • Applying employment law with commercial judgement, balancing risk and business needs
  • Supporting and leading projects such as restructures, TUPE, job design and salary benchmarking
  • Coaching and advising SME leaders and managers, tailoring your approach to each business
  • Building strong, long-term client relationships across sectors such as professional services, manufacturing and FMCG
  • Managing your own workload with autonomy and accountability
  • Working flexibly between home, office and client sites

This is not a policy-led or purely advisory role. It’s about understanding each client’s business and helping them make the right decisions in a practical, commercially sound way.

What We’re Looking For
You’ll be a great fit if you:
Have proven experience within private sector SMEs or consultancy environments in the UK

  • Bring a strong commercial mindset - this is essential
  • Can hit the ground running and operate with minimal supervision
  • Are confident advising and challenging senior stakeholders, and can read between the lines
  • Build relationships naturally, with energy and credibility
  • Are proactive, ambitious, and see consultancy as a long-term career path
  • Enjoy variety, pace, and being out with clients
  • Hold a full UK driving licence and have access to your own car, with flexibility to travel to West Coast Clients

Why Join?

You’ll work directly with a highly experienced and supportive CEO within a small, close-knit team. There’s no hierarchy for the sake of it, no micromanagement, and no ego, just a collaborative environment where people are trusted to deliver and supported to succeed!

If you’re looking for a role where you can own your work, apply real commercial judgement, and build meaningful client relationships, we’d love to hear from you.
