HR & Development Manager - East Coast

Our customer is a global FMCG sector organisation who have a highly successful and driven HR team who work closely together. Reporting into the HR Director and working closely with a Senior HR Business Partner, this role will have a small team of direct reports and between you and the other business partner you will support the daily operations within the team.  

Scope of the role:

You will be responsible for coaching and providing expert people advice across the business. Career development is a key focus in growing their talent and creating robust succession planning.  A big part of this role will be to proactively anticipate and respond to the development needs within your business area.  Their aim is to ensure employees have the skills, competencies, and commitment required to successfully undertake their role, and are developed to meet their full potential through both on the job experience and learning and development initiatives.

The HR function is integral to the business and you will understand the commercial objectives and business strategy so that you can align the people initiatives to support the business.  The key areas of success are:

  • Being a credible partner to your stakeholders, proactivity is the key in anticipating their needs and implementing solutions.
  • Creating temperature checks on engagement and knowing the right levers to use to address any challenges and support your business areas in delivering their engagement plans.
  • Participation at key business meetings within your business area to keep up to speed on their priorities and to add value with people updates, including any insights from HR metrics.
  • Coaching line managers through employee relations issues and being a confidential sounding board within your business area.

Key areas of expertise will be:

  • Career Development - the customer has two key group processes focusing on performance reviews and organisational design and succession planning. This role will lead on the implementation of both of these processes and be specifically responsible for the plans within their business areas.  
  • Training and Development - the business will look to you for guidance and best practice on the learning interventions that will provide employees with the skills and knowledge to do their role and grow.  You will be part of an HR Development community  to share best practice and leverage any Group training programs. 
  • Recruitment and headcount planning - you will be responsible for developing a recruitment strategy for your business areas focusing on current and future skill requirements.  
  • Organisational design and change management - the successful candidate will need to be agile, lean and efficient.  You will be responsible for supporting your senior stakeholders with thought leadership around their structure and coaching them to lead through change initiatives.
