Syme Drummond is delighted to be partnering on a retained basis with a respected and fast-growing independent fund services firm to appoint their first Business Development Manager as the company enters a pivotal phase of strategic growth.

Our customer is an established provider of fund services, acting as the operational and regulatory partner to investment managers. They support over 130 UK-based funds with significant assets under administration, ensuring smooth fund operations from compliance to administration.

This is a rare opportunity to join a business at just the right moment. As the first commercial hire of its kind, you’ll help shape and deliver the business development strategy, working closely with senior leadership to elevate market presence and bring in new, long-standing relationships.

Key Responsibilities

  • Map the UK market to identify new opportunities across investment and wealth managers.
  • Build strong relationships with consultants, intermediaries, platforms, and other key decision-makers.
  • Lead outbound campaigns, representing services with credibility and professionalism.
  • Create compelling sales and marketing materials to enhance market positioning.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure smooth onboarding of new clients and alignment across the business.

What We’re Looking For

  • Proven success in financial services B2B development-ideally within fund services, investment platforms.
  • Strong understanding of ACDs, fund operations, or investment structures.
  • A self-starter with commercial curiosity and a consultative, relationship-first approach.
  • Resilience and adaptability- comfortable working in a business that’s evolving and modernising its ways of working, with a balance of established practices and fresh ideas.
  • The ability to work independently while maintaining strong cross-functional relationships.
