Syme Drummond is actively sourcing on behalf of this FMCG customer for a Head of HR. The role can be based in Edinburgh or in the areas of East Anglia, Lincoln or North Wales. They operate a hybrid working model so you can be based at any of these locations as long as you can travel to the sites according to business needs. Travel would be required on a reasonably regular basis so perhaps once every fortnight. This is a growing business with ambitious people plans. 

Working closely with MD, the Head of HR will play a key role in building capability and capacity required for the further growth of the business. The Head of HR will drive the HR Strategy and act as confidant to the MD and the Senior Team.You will lead and motivate a small HR team to ensure a more visible, business partnering approach.

The key responsibilities within this role include:

•Responsible for the Group people strategy and ensuring that it aligns directly to the strategic business goals.

•Support the HR teams development and implementation of annual people plans for each site/function to reflect the specific needs of those business areas.

•Drive the delivery of a quality HR business partnering service to the business.

•Build and develop integrated relationships and solutions with the key stakeholders and business leaders in order to influence them and become their trusted advisor.

•Provide guidance, coaching and commercial advice on people issues to enable proactive and effective management of our colleagues.

•Share knowledge, expertise and market insights to help drive the delivery of business focused HR solutions.

•Ensure robust HR systems and process are in place and managed effectively to ensure compliance and appropriate standards are met.

•Deliver strategic initiatives as necessary e.g. business objectives role out, colleague engagement survey, communications programmes etc.

•Deliver the annual salary review/bonus processes to ensure timely launch, delivery,and engagement from all stakeholders.

•Co-ordinate and deliver the objective setting/annual review process as appropriate and ensuring that the appropriate follow through happens with development needs.

•Co-ordinate and deliver the Talent Review/Succession Planning process as appropriate,working to identify high potential performers and create development and succession plans.

•Work with the business areas on organisational design/change programmes in order to align to business strategic objectives.

•Support team and key stakeholders with complex employee and industrial relations issues and ensure these are managed effectively within a unionised environment.

•Develop a Learning & Development framework for the organisation, providing guidance and support in its implementation across the business.

You will be expected to hold a professional qualification from an accredited chartered institute such as the CIPD. An applicant will also be expected to have experience in a leadership position, either as Senior HR business partner in another organisation, or as Head of HR
